DIY Shockmount

DIY Shockmounts for Small or Large Microphones - I made three for about $12.

1

Materials
  • 3" PVC Pipe, cut in 2.5 -3 Inch lengths - These form the base
  • Elastic -found at same hardware store - Feed these through the holes to form the shock
  • Mic Clip - cut  off the excess material and screw to the PVC using
  • Small tapping screws.

Tools:
  • Saws:, I used a 10" Chop Saw to cut the PVC and a small dremel to cut the mic clip
  • Drill - hand or Drill Press,
  • Screwdriver
  • Scissors

Notes:
  • Lenght  - You can make these longer for big mics and greater stability or shorter for better access to pad/rolloff switches
  • Holes - Closer together gives better strength, but makes it toougher to squeeze around big mics
  • Adjustable - I used two pieces of elastic, though you could use more or less.  You can loosen or tighten the elastic for fit.
  • Mods:  I'm considering
